Rural home with red barn and new roof near Holgate, Ohio

Roofing in Holgate, OH.

Holgate sits about 12 miles southeast of our shop in Napoleon. OH-108 will get you most of the way, or you can cut across on OH-18 through Malinta if the tractors are out. Either way we know the drive. Holgate is a small village, maybe a thousand people, and the housing stock is mostly older single-family homes on tight village lots plus a wide ring of farms and rural properties around it.

The village itself has homes going back to the railroad days. Two-stories with cut-up rooflines, porches, and original board decking under newer shingles. Out past the Holgate Local Schools campus you get into pure farmland fast, with the Turkey Foot and Powell Creek drainages stretching south toward Hamler and Deshler.

Most of what we do in Holgate is residential: tear-offs, re-roofs, and the occasional new construction. Andrew is on every job from start to walk-through.

Farmhouse with a new roof surrounded by trees in rural Henry County, Ohio

Farms and pole barns around Marion Township.

The land around Holgate is some of the flattest farm ground in Henry County. Corn, soybeans, seed corn, and a lot of hog and dairy operations mixed in. A big share of our work in this part of the county is on metal roofing for pole barns, machine sheds, and grain-storage buildings.

Jobs we run most often out this way:

  • New standing seam and exposed fastener metal on pole barns and shops
  • Rusted panel replacement on 30+ year old tin barns
  • Color-matched additions on existing barns where the owner is expanding
  • Farmhouse re-roofs in architectural shingle or metal
  • Roof and gutter work on equipment sheds and outbuildings with water running toward foundations
  • Quick repair work on storm-lifted panels and failed ridge caps

Ag schedules are not the same as suburban schedules. Tell us when planting starts, when harvest starts, and when a barn has to be buttoned up. We plan around real timelines, not our booking calendar.

Holgate has history. Its roofs do too.

Holgate is known to baseball fans as the hometown of Joe Tinker, the Chicago Cubs Hall of Famer from the "Tinker to Evers to Chance" era. Driving through the village you see that kind of layered history in the houses. Folk Victorian porches, Craftsman bungalows, American Foursquares, and post-war ranches all on the same block.

That mix means one thing for us: never assume a Holgate roof is like the last one. A 1905 two-story with original decking gets a different approach than a 1965 ranch. We pull attic covers, check sheathing, inspect flashing joints by hand, and we tell you what the roof actually needs, not what is fastest to sell.

For older character homes, we install cedar shake alternatives, heavier architectural profiles, and period-appropriate detail work where it fits.

Holgate roofing questions.

Yes. Holgate is about 12 miles southeast of Napoleon, a straight run down OH-108 or over through Malinta on OH-18. We work in Holgate and the south end of Henry County almost weekly. No travel charge, no minimum job size for an estimate.

Yes. A good number of homes in the village of Holgate go back to the early 1900s with steep pitches, dormers, and original board decking underneath. We handle those slower than a production crew would. Flashing gets hand-detailed, failed decking gets replaced, and ventilation gets calculated for the actual attic rather than a generic formula.

Most village homes in Holgate run between $7,500 and $16,000 for a full tear-off and new architectural shingle roof. Farmhouses and larger rural properties run higher. Metal roofs on pole barns or machine sheds outside town are priced by square footage and panel type. Estimates are free and itemized.

Yes. Marion Township and the rest of southern Henry County are heavy ag country, and pole barn metal is a big part of what we do out there. Standing seam, exposed fastener panels, rusted sheet replacement, and color-matched additions on existing barns. We also tighten screw-downs and refresh sealant on older tin roofs.

Residential roofing, commercial roofing, metal roofing for homes and pole barns, seamless gutters with guards, storm damage and insurance claims, roof repairs, and free roof inspections. Same crew and same owner on every job.
